2016 WWE EXTREME RULES PARTICIPANTS’ HISTORY

As I do every month, it’s time to look at this weekend’s Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View and see the history of all of the participants. To see the entire 8 year history of Extreme Rules, visit the Extreme Rules History HERE. And for any feedback or comments about this, comment below or tweet me (@hbkid718). Thanks.

Before I get to this year’s participants, this year will be the 1st time in its 8 year history that both John Cena & Randy Orton will not be competing at Extreme Rules. This ends their streak, & therefore no has competed at every ER Pay-Per-View.

Since they are 2 Extreme Rules/No Disqualification Matches on the Pay-Per-View, I will discuss it here, instead of for each match. They will be the 12th & 13th Extreme Rules/No Disqualification Matches in ER History & is the only match to take place at every ER Pay-Per-View. All matches with No Disqualifications or No Count Outs, with pinfalls counting in the ring count the same, meaning Extreme Rules, No Disqualification, No Holds Barred, Hardcore Matches, & Street Fights. Each match below will list how many of that named match has occurred in ER History.

Since the opener has not been announced, these are the possibilities. If the Tag Title Match opens, it will be Kofi Kingston’s 1st opener since 2009. If the Intercontinental Championship Fatal 4-Way Match opens, it will be The Miz’ 1st opener since 2010 & Cesaro’s 1st opener since 2014. If the Asylum Match opens, it will be Chris Jericho’s 1st opener since 2013 & Dean Ambrose’s 2nd opener in a row, making him the 1st wrestler since Randy Orton in 2011 & 2012 to compete in back-to-back opening matches. It will be the opener debut for all other wrestlers.
