2017 WWE HELL IN A CELL PPV PARTICIPANTS’ HISTORY

 

Like I do every month, I decided to write a special blog looking at this year’s WWE Hell In A Cell Pay-Per-View and each participants’ records and other facts. Since no opening match has been announced, here are the facts about it. If Randy Orton VS Rusev is the opening match, it will be Rusev’s 2nd opening match in a row & Orton’s 1st HIAC PPV opener since 2012. If Bobby Roode VS Dolph Ziggler is the opening match, it will be Ziggler’s 1st HIAC PPV opener since 2014. If the Tag Team Title Match is the opening match, it will be The Usos’ 1st HIAC PPV opener since 2013, which was the last time the Tag Team Titles opened up a HIAC PPV & will be the 2nd year in a row a Hell In A Cell Match opened up a HIAC PPV. If the WWE Championship Match is the opening match, it will be the 1st World Title Match to open a HIAC PPV since 2009. If the United States Championship Match is the opening match, it will be the 1st US Title Match to open a HIAC PPV since 2015. If Charlotte Flair opens up the HIAC PPV, she will be the 1st wrestler since Alberto Del Rio in 2012 to go from the main event of a HIAC PPV to the following year’s opener. It will be everyone else’s 1st HIAC PPV opener.

 

 

FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE HELL IN A CELL MATCH: SHANE MCMAHON VS KEVIN OWENS

This will be the 37th or 38th Hell In A Cell Match in WWE History & 18th or 19th to take place at a HIAC PPV. It will be the 1st Non-Title Hell In A Cell Match at a HIAC PPV since 2015. It will be the 9th straight Hell In A Cell Match to main event a HIAC PPV & 1st Non-Title Match to main event a HIAC PPV since 2015. It will be the 1st ever Falls Count Anywhere Match at a HIAC PPV & 1st ever Falls Count Anywhere Hell In A Cell Match in history. This will be Shane McMahon’s HIAC PPV debut & 1st HIAC PPV main event, & 1st Hell In A Cell Match at a HIAC PPV, but 3rd overall & 1st since 2016. This will be Kevin Owens’ 3rd HIAC PPV in a row & 2nd Hell In A Cell Match in a row. It will be his 1st Non-Title Match at a HIAC PPV & 1st HIAC PPV main event.

This will be the 13th WWE/World/Universal Championship Match at a HIAC PPV & 2nd year in a row. The WWE/World/Universal Title has changed hands 6 times at a HIAC PPV, with the last title change taking place in 2013. This will be the 1st time that the WWE/World Title is not being defended inside Hell In A Cell since 2015. This will be Shinsuke Nakamura & Jinder Mahal’s HIAC PPV debut & 1st WWE Title Match at a HIAC PPV.

This will be the 37th or 38th Hell In A Cell Match in WWE History & 18th or 19th to take place at a HIAC PPV. This will be the 1st ever Tag Team Championship Match to be held inside the Hell In A Cell. It will be the 4th Tag Team Hell In A Cell Match & 1st since 2009. This will be the 8th Tag Team Championship Match at a HIAC PPV & 7th in a row. Tag Team Titles have never changed hands at the HIAC PPV. This will be Big E’s 4th HIAC PPV & 3rd in a row. It will be his 3rd Tag Team Championship Match in a row & 1st ever Hell In A Cell Match. This will be Kofi Kingston’s 7th HIAC PPV & 1st since 2015. It will be his 3rd Tag Team Championship Match at a HIAC PPV & 1st since 2015 & 1st ever Hell In A Cell Match. This will be Xavier Woods’ 2nd HIAC PPV in a row & 2nd Tag Team Championship Match in a row. It will be his 1st ever Hell In A Cell Match. This will be the 3rd straight HIAC PPV that The New Day will be defending the Tag Team Championship. This will be The Usos’ 3rd HIAC PPV & 1st since 2014. This will be Natalya’s 3rd HIAC PPV & 1st since 2013. It will be her 2nd Title Match & 1st since 2010.
