NXT TAKEOVER: NEW ORLEANS PARTICIPANTS’ TAKEOVER HISTORY

Since no opening match has been announced, here are the facts about it. If the Unsanctioned Match is the opener, it will be the 1st singles match to open Takeover since Kassius Ohno VS Lars Sullivan at Takeover: War Games on November 18, 2017, Gargano’s 1st opener since Takeover: Brooklyn III on August 19, 2017, & Ciampa’s 1st ever Takeover opener. If the Ladder Match opens, it will be Lars Sullivan’s 1st opener since War Games on November 18, 2017, Killian Dain’s 1st opener since Orlando on April 1, 2017, & everyone else’s 1st opener. If the Tag Title Match opens, it will be the 2nd Takeover in a row to open with a Tag Title Match & 1st Triple Threat Match to open Takeover. It will be The Authors of Pain & Kyle O’Reilly’s 2nd opener in a row, Roderick Strong’s 1st opener since Chicago on May 20, 2017, & Adam Cole & Pete Dunne’s 1st Takeover opener. If the Women’s Title Match opens Takeover, it will be the 1st Women’s Title Match to open Takeover, the 1st Women’s Match since Asuka VS Emma at London on December 6, 2015, & both Ember Moon & Shayna Baszler’s 1st opener. If the NXT Title Match opens, it will be the 1st NXT Title Match to open Takeover, Andrade Almas’ 1st opener since Brooklyn III on August 19, 2017 & Aleister Black’s 1st opener. If Gargano or Almas compete in the opener, it will be the 2nd Takeover in a row where someone went from the Takeover main event to the following Takeover opener.

This will be the 18th NXT Championship Match in Takeover History & 11th in a row. The NXT Title has changed hands 7 times, with the last title change taking place at Takeover: War Games on November 18, 2017. This will be Aleister’s Black’s 3rd Takeover in a row & 1st ever NXT Title Match & Takeover main event. This will be Andrade Almas’ 7th Takeover & 4th in a row & 3rd NXT Title Match in a row. He will be the 1st NXT Champion since Bobby Roode at Takeover: Brooklyn III on August 19, 2017 to compete in 3 straight NXT Title Matches. If he wins, he will be the 1st wrestler since Bobby Roode at Takeover: Orlando on April 1, 2017 & Takeover: Chicago on May 20, 2017 to defend the NXT Title successfully at back-to-back Takeovers. This will be the 18th NXT Women’s Championship Match in Takeover History & 18th Takeover in a row, continuing its streak of being the only title to be defended at every Takeover. This will be the 6th NXT Women’s Title Change of 2018 & 1st since Takeover: War Games on November 18, 2017. Ember Moon VS Shayna Baszler will be the 12th match to be re-matched in Takeover History, the 1st since Gargano/Almas at Takeover: San Antonio on January 27, 2018, the 1st to take place at back-to-back Takeovers since Nakamura/Roode at Takeover: San Antonio on January 28, 2017 & Orlando on April 1, 2017, & was the 3rd Women’s Match to take place twice after Asuka/Bayley at Takeover: Dallas on April 1, 2016 & Brooklyn II on August 20, 2016 & Asuka/Moon at Takeover: Orlando on April 1, 2017 & Brooklyn III on August 19, 2017.
