2017 WWE NO MERCY PARTICIPANTS’ HISTORY

As I do every month, it’s time to look at this weekend’s No Mercy Pay-Per-View and see the history of all of the participants. WWE brought back No Mercy after an 8 year absence, as a Smackdown Exclusive PPV in 2016, but in 2017, it became a Raw PPV. Since it moved to a Raw PPV, it will be many wrestlers’ No Mercy PPV. The only wrestlers to compete on a previous card that will be competing this year will be Dean Ambrose, Alexa Bliss, John Cena, Jason Jordan, Brock Lesnar, The Miz, & Bray Wyatt.

 

Since no opening match has been announced, it will be everyone’s 1^st No Mercy opener except for John Cena & Dean Ambrose who opened in 2016. If the Tag Team Championship opens, it will be the 1^st time since 2002 that a Tag Title Match opened up No Mercy. If the Cruiserweight Championship opens, it will be the 1^st time since 2006 that a Cruiserweight Title Match opened up No Mercy. It will be the 1^st time opener for everyone else.

 

WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPION BROCK LESNAR VS BRAUN STROWMAN

This will be the 20^th WWE/World/Universal Championship Match at No Mercy, counting all forms of World Titles including WCW & ECW. It will be the 1^st Universal Championship Match at No Mercy. WWE/World Titles have changed hands 4 times at No Mercy, with the last title change taking place in 2007, when it changed hands twice in one night. It will be the 11^th time that a WWE/World Title Match will be the main event of No Mercy & 1^st since 2008. This will be Brock Lesnar’s 3^rd No Mercy & 1^st since 2003, giving him the biggest gap between No Mercy events.
