This will be the 1st PPV since Fastlane where only 1 match is a never before seen match. This will be the 1st PPV of 2021 to not have an Universal Championship Match, the 1st since Survivor Series on November 22, 2020 to not have one, & the 1st Hell In A Cell PPV since 2017 to not have one, therefore it is the 1st PPV of 2021 that Roman Reigns did not wrestle, which is the 1st PPV he didn’t wrestle since SummerSlam on August 23, 2020. This is the 2nd PPV in a row that the Raw Tag Team Championship Match was not defended & the 3rd Hell In A Cell PPV in a row it wasn’t defended. It was the 1st PPV since WrestleMania that the Smackdown Tag Team Championship was not defended & the 3rd Hell In A Cell PPV it was not defended. This was the 2nd PPV in a row that the United States Championship was not defended & the 1st time since 2019 that it was not defended at Hell In A Cell. This was the 2nd PPV in a row that the Intercontinental Championship was not defended & the 6th year in a row it was not defended at Hell In A Cell. This was the 2nd PPV in a row that the Women’s Tag Team Championship was not defended at Hell In A Cell & the 2nd year in a row it was not defended at Hell In A Cell. This will be the 1st PPV of 2021 that Sheamus did not wrestle.

The Last Men’s Championship to change hands in a Steel Cage Match was Randy Orton defeating Drew McIntyre to win the WWE Championship at Hell In A Cell on October 25, 2021 & the last Women’s Championship to change hands in a Steel Cage Match was Sasha Banks defeated Bayley at Hell In A Cell on October 25, 2020. This will be the 22nd Hell In A Cell Match for a WWE, World, or Universal Championship & the 4th Hell In A Cell Match for a Women’s Championship & 2nd for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. The only titles to be defended on the Kickoff is the Smackdown Tag Team Titles in 2018 & the 24/7 Title in 2020.

Since no opening matches have been announced, here are the facts about it. A Hell In A Cell Match has opened the Hell In A Cell PPV the last 5 years & 6 times overall. The last time a Women’s Match has opened a Hell In A Cell PPV was in 2019, which was a Raw Women’s Championship Match. The only wrestlers on the card to wrestle in the opening match are Cesaro in 2014 & Seth Rollins in 2013.

HELL IN A CELL MATCH FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP: DREW MCINTYRE VS WWE CHAMPION BOBBY LASHLEY

Drew McIntyre VS Bobby Lashley will be the 10th WWE Championship Match of 2021, the 3rd PPV in a row, the 1st since WrestleMania Backlash on May 16, & the 19th at Hell In A Cell & 2nd in a row. This will be the 1st time since 2019 that there will be only 1 WWE or Universal Championship Match at Hell In A Cell & the only time that only the WWE Championship was defended since 2017. This will be the 2nd year in a row that the WWE Championship will be defended in a Hell In A Cell Match, which will be the 1st time since 2012 & 2013 that it was defended 2 years in a row in a Hell In A Cell Match. This will be Drew McIntyre’s 5th Hell In A Cell PPV & 2nd in a row. This will be McIntyre’s 6th PPV in a row in 2021, making him the only wrestler to wrestle on every PPV in 2021, & will be his 3rd Steel Cage Match in his Career, after he defeated Dolph Ziggler on Raw on December 31, 2018 & he lost to Randy Orton at Hell In A Cell on October 25, 2020, giving him a Cage Match Record of 1-1-0.
