2023 WWE SURVIVOR SERIES PREVIEW

surseries

Like I do every month, I decided to write a special blog looking at this year’s WWE Survivor Series Pay-Per-View and each participants’ records and other facts, as well as other facts about 2023. Even though the event is called Survivor Series War Games, it will still count as part of Survivor Series. For the entire history of Survivor Series, visit HERE. And for any feedback or comments about this, comment below or tweet me (@hbkid718). Thanks.

This will be the 4th Survivor Series in a row to not have an Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match & the 1st PPV since Fastlane on October 7 to not have one & the 1st PPV since Backlash on May 6 (which was before the Championship was created) to not have a World Heavyweight Championship Match. There has never been a Raw Women’s Championship (now known as the Women’s Championship) Match at Survivor Series & it will be the 1st PPV since Payback on September 2 to not have one. This will be the 9th Survivor Series in a row to not have a Tag Team Championship Match & the 2nd PPV in a row in 2023 to not have one. This will be the 1st Survivor Series since 2021 to not have a United States Championship Match & the 1st PPV since Fastlane on October 7 to not have one. There has never been a Women’s Tag Team Championship Match at Survivor Series & will be the 4th PPV in a row in 2023 to not have one.

This will be the 4th time in Survivor Series History that no Survivor Series Matches will be held after 1998, 2002, & 2022. Seth Rollins is the only wrestler to wrestle on every PPV in 2023.

Since no Opening Match has been announced, here are the facts. The wrestlers to wrestle in an opening match were Asuka (2018, 2019, 2022), Bianca Belair (2019, 2022), Bayley (2016, 2018, 2022), Charlotte Flair (2016, 2019, 2021), Becky Lynch (2016, 2021, 2022), The Miz (2007, 2008, 2009, 2014), Rhea Ripley (2019), Kairi Sane (2019), & IYO SKY (2019, 2022). If the Women’s War Games Match opens, Asuka, Bianca Belair, Bayley, Becky Lynch, & IYO SKY will be the 1st since Asuka & Sasha Banks in 2018 & 2019 to wrestle in 2 Survivor Series openers in a row. A Women’s Match has opened Survivor Series 4 times overall (2016, 2018, 2019, 2023). The last 1-on-1 Match to open Survivor Series was Roman Reigns VS Alberto Del Rio in 2016. The Intercontinental Championship or Women’s Championship has never opened Survivor Series.

If they do not do a Kickoff Match, it will be the 2nd Survivor Series in a row to not have one & the 1st PPV since Fastlane on October 7 to not have one.

If Damian Priest cashes in his Money In The Bank Briefcase, here are the Facts. Damian Priest & Seth Rollins would become the 32nd & 33rd wrestler to compete more than once at the same Survivor Series (The Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Tito Santana, Rick Martel, The Warlord, Paul Roma, Hercules, & Ted DiBiase in 1990, Mankind, Al Snow, Steve Austin, Ken Shamrock, The Rock, & The Undertaker in 1998, The Big Show in 1999, Christian & Edge, Steve Blackman, Val Venis, Jeff Hardy, & Billy Gunn in 2000, Justin Credible, Raven, Lance Storm, Albert, Spike Dudley, & Test in 2001, Dolph Ziggler in 2011, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, & Sheamus in 2015). It would be the 1st time that the World Heavyweight Championship was defended twice in History & the 1st time a World Championship was defended twice at Survivor Series since 2015. Damian Priest would be the 2nd person to cash in at Survivor Series & the 1st since Sheamus in 2015 & the 4th cash-in in the month of November after The Miz (11/22/10 RAW), Sheamus (11/22/15 Survivor Series), & Austin Theory (11/7/22 Raw). As of Survivor Series, Damian Priest has held the Money In The Bank Briefcase for 147 Days, which is the 8th Longest Cash-In in History. If he cashes in on the World Heavyweight Championship, he will be the 2nd 1st-time World Heavyweight Champion in a row, the 2nd in a row to be a former United States Champion, the 1st to be a former NXT North American Champion, & 2nd in a row to be a former Raw Tag Team Champion, but 1st to be a former Smackdown Tag Team Champion & 1st to hold both Championships at the same time.
