NXT TAKEOVER: IN YOUR HOUSE PARTICIPANTS’ TAKEOVER HISTORY

Since I do the blogs looking at every Pay-Per-View every month, I thought I would do one looking at NXT Takeover: In Your House II. To see the entire history of Takeover, visit the Takeover History HERE. And for any feedback or comments about this, comment below or tweet me (@hbkid718). Thanks.

This will be the 1st Takeover since Takeover 31 to not have a Triple Threat Match, the 1st Takeover since it was instituted that the Women’s Tag Team Championship Match was not defended, & the 1st Takeover since Vengeance Day on February 14 that the Cruiserweight Title was not defended.

Since no opening matches have been announced, here are the facts about it. If the Ladder Match opens, it will be the 2nd Takeover in a row to open with a Ladder Match & 3rd Overall or a Singles Match & both Grimes & Knight’s 1st Takeover opener. If a Women’s Match opens, it will be the 6th Women’s Match to open Takeover, & 1st since Vengeance Day on February 14, 2021, which was both Ember Moon & Raquel Gonzalez’s last opener, & would be their 3rd overall. It would be the 1st ever Women’s Championship Match to open a Takeover. If Martinez VS Li opens, it would be the 1st Women’s Singles Match to open since Asuka VS Emma at London on December 6, 2015. If the 6-Man Tag Team Match opens, it would be the 1st Tag Team Match to open since Vengeance Day on February 14, 2021, the 1st 6-Person Tag since In Your House on June 7, 2020, the 1st North American Championship Match to open since Portland on February 16, 2020, the 1st Tag Team Championship Match to open since Toronto on August 10, 2019, MSK, Reed, Mendoza, & Wilde’s 1st Takeover opener, & Escobar’s 2nd in a row, making him the 1st since Moon, Gonzalez, Shotzi Blackheart, & Dakota Kai at War Games IV on December 6, 2020 & Vengeance Day on February 14, 2021 to wrestle in back-to-back Takeover openers.

FATAL 5-WAY MATCH FOR THE NXT CHAMPIONSHIP: ADAM COLE VS PETE DUNNE VS JOHNNY GARGANO VS NXT CHAMPION KARRION KROSS VS KYLE O’REILLY

Adam Cole VS Pete Dunne VS Johnny Gargano VS Karrion Kross VS Kyle O’Reilly was the 6th NXT Championship Match of 2021, the 1st since NXT on May 25, 32nd at Takeover, & 3rd Takeover in a row. It will be the 5th Fatal 5-Way of 2021, the 2nd at Takeover & 1st since the North American Championship Match at Takeover 30 on August 22, 2020, which was also the last 5-Way in NXT, & the 1st ever for the NXT Championship. This will be the 25th NXT Championship Match to main event Takeover & 1st since Finn Balor VS Kyle O’Reilly at Vengeance Day on February 14, 2021. This will be Adam Cole’s 16th Takeover, tying him with Finn Balor for the 2nd Most Takeover Matches of All-Time & his 2nd in a row. It will be his 10th Takeover Main Event, which is the Most of All-Time & 2nd in a row. It will be his 1st NXT Championship Match at Takeover since he defeated The Velveteen Dream at In Your House on June 7, 2020, his 1st ever Multi-Person Match for the NXT Title, & his 2nd 5-Way after he defeated Aleister Black, Ricochet, Riddle, & The Velveteen Dream on NXT on March 20, 2019. This will be Karrion Kross’ 4th Takeover & 2nd in a row. It will be his 2nd Takeover main event & 1st since Takeover 30 on August 22, 2020. It will be his 1st Multi-Person Match for the NXT Championship. It will be his 2nd NXT Championship Defense, so if he would lose, he would be the 1st since Keith Lee who lost to Kross at Takeover 30 on August 22, 2020 to lose in his 2nd Defense. As of Takeover, Kross’ NXT Championship Reign has lasted 66 Days, so if he would lose, he would be the 1st to lose in 66 Days, & would be the 7th Shortest Reign of All-Time. If he wins, he would be the 1st NXT Champion since Adam Cole at Takeover 25 on June 1, 2019 & Toronto on August 10, 2019 to win the title & then retain it at back-to-back Takeovers. This will be Pete Dunne’s 11th Takeover, which is the 6th Most of All-Time & 3rd in a row. It will be his 1st NXT Championship Match since he lost to Finn Balor at Vengeance Day on February 14, 2021, his 1st ever Multi-Person Match for the NXT Championship & 1st ever 5-Way Match. It will be his 4th Takeover Main Event & 1st since Vengeance Day on February 14, 2021. This will be Johnny Gargano’s 23rd Takeover, which continues to be the Most of All-Time & his 7th in a row. It will be his 1st NXT Championship Match since he lost to Adam Cole at Toronto on August 22, 2020, his 1st Multi-Person Match for the NXT Championship, but his 2nd 5-Way Match & 1st since he lost to Damian Priest, along with Cameron Grimes, Bronson Reed, & The Velveteen Dream at Takeover 30 on August 22, 2020. This will be the 1st time he is not in a North American Championship Match since he lost to Finn Balor at Portland on February 16, 2020, ending his streak of the Most North American Championship Matches. It will be his 9th Takeover main event, which is the 2nd Most Main Events of All-Time & 1st since Toronto on August 10, 2019. If Adam Cole or Johnny Gargano win, they will be the 3rd 2-time NXT Champion in a row & 5th overall after Karrion Kross, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, & Shinsuke Nakamura. Gargano would be the 1st to be North American & NXT Champion twice. Also, this will be Cole & Gargano’s 6th NXT Championship Match at Takeover, which is the 2nd Most Title Matches of All-Time after Finn Balor (7) & ahead of Tommaso Ciampa, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, & Sami Zayn (4). This will be Kyle O’Reilly’s 15th Takeover, which ties Tommaso Ciampa for 3rd Most of All-Time & his 2nd in a row. It will be his 1st NXT Championship Match since he lost to Finn Balor at Takeover 31 on October 4, 2020. It will be his 1st Multi-Person Match for the NXT Championship & 1st ever 5-Way Match. It will be his 7th Takeover main event, which ties Tommaso Ciampa for 3rd Most Main Events of All-Time & his 2nd in a row, making him & Adam Cole the 1st since himself at Takeover 31 on October 6, 2020 & War Games IV on December 6, 2020 to be in 2 Takeover main events back-to-back. Dunne & O’Reilly would be the 1st 1st time Champion since Karrion Kross’ 1st Reign, Dunne would be the 1st ever to be UK & NXT Champion & he & O’Reilly would be the 1st since Adam Cole to be Tag Team & NXT Champion. It would be the 2nd NXT Championship of 2021, 1st since Stand & Deliver on April 8, 2021, the 12th to take place at Takeover, & 2nd in a row, making it the 1st time since Johnny Gargano defeated Adam Cole & Cole defeated Gargano at New York on April 5, 2019 & Takeover 25 on June 1, 2019 that the NXT Championship changed hands at back-to-back Takeovers. It would be the 1st ever NXT Title Change in a Fatal 5-Way Match, but 2nd Title Change overall as Damian Priest won the Vacant North American Title at Takeover 30 on August 22, 2020. It would be the 23rd NXT Title Change of All-Time.
