2023 WWE SURVIVOR SERIES PREVIEW

surseries

Like I do every month, I decided to write a special blog looking at this year’s WWE Survivor Series Pay-Per-View and each participants’ records and other facts, as well as other facts about 2023. Even though the event is called Survivor Series War Games, it will still count as part of Survivor Series. For the entire history of Survivor Series, visit HERE. And for any feedback or comments about this, comment below or tweet me (@hbkid718). Thanks.

This will be the 4th Survivor Series in a row to not have an Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match & the 1st PPV since Fastlane on October 7 to not have one & the 1st PPV since Backlash on May 6 (which was before the Championship was created) to not have a World Heavyweight Championship Match. There has never been a Raw Women’s Championship (now known as the Women’s Championship) Match at Survivor Series & it will be the 1st PPV since Payback on September 2 to not have one. This will be the 9th Survivor Series in a row to not have a Tag Team Championship Match & the 2nd PPV in a row in 2023 to not have one. This will be the 1st Survivor Series since 2021 to not have a United States Championship Match & the 1st PPV since Fastlane on October 7 to not have one. There has never been a Women’s Tag Team Championship Match at Survivor Series & will be the 4th PPV in a row in 2023 to not have one.

This will be the 4th time in Survivor Series History that no Survivor Series Matches will be held after 1998, 2002, & 2022. Seth Rollins is the only wrestler to wrestle on every PPV in 2023.

Since no Opening Match has been announced, here are the facts. The wrestlers to wrestle in an opening match were Asuka (2018, 2019, 2022), Bianca Belair (2019, 2022), Bayley (2016, 2018, 2022), Charlotte Flair (2016, 2019, 2021), Becky Lynch (2016, 2021, 2022), The Miz (2007, 2008, 2009, 2014), Rhea Ripley (2019), Kairi Sane (2019), & IYO SKY (2019, 2022). If the Women’s War Games Match opens, Asuka, Bianca Belair, Bayley, Becky Lynch, & IYO SKY will be the 1st since Asuka & Sasha Banks in 2018 & 2019 to wrestle in 2 Survivor Series openers in a row. A Women’s Match has opened Survivor Series 4 times overall (2016, 2018, 2019, 2023). The last 1-on-1 Match to open Survivor Series was Roman Reigns VS Alberto Del Rio in 2016. The Intercontinental Championship or Women’s Championship has never opened Survivor Series.

If they do not do a Kickoff Match, it will be the 2nd Survivor Series in a row to not have one & the 1st PPV since Fastlane on October 7 to not have one.

If Damian Priest cashes in his Money In The Bank Briefcase, here are the Facts. Damian Priest & Seth Rollins would become the 32nd & 33rd wrestler to compete more than once at the same Survivor Series (The Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Tito Santana, Rick Martel, The Warlord, Paul Roma, Hercules, & Ted DiBiase in 1990, Mankind, Al Snow, Steve Austin, Ken Shamrock, The Rock, & The Undertaker in 1998, The Big Show in 1999, Christian & Edge, Steve Blackman, Val Venis, Jeff Hardy, & Billy Gunn in 2000, Justin Credible, Raven, Lance Storm, Albert, Spike Dudley, & Test in 2001, Dolph Ziggler in 2011, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, & Sheamus in 2015). It would be the 1st time that the World Heavyweight Championship was defended twice in History & the 1st time a World Championship was defended twice at Survivor Series since 2015. Damian Priest would be the 2nd person to cash in at Survivor Series & the 1st since Sheamus in 2015 & the 4th cash-in in the month of November after The Miz (11/22/10 RAW), Sheamus (11/22/15 Survivor Series), & Austin Theory (11/7/22 Raw). As of Survivor Series, Damian Priest has held the Money In The Bank Briefcase for 147 Days, which is the 8th Longest Cash-In in History. If he cashes in on the World Heavyweight Championship, he will be the 2nd 1st-time World Heavyweight Champion in a row, the 2nd in a row to be a former United States Champion, the 1st to be a former NXT North American Champion, & 2nd in a row to be a former Raw Tag Team Champion, but 1st to be a former Smackdown Tag Team Champion & 1st to hold both Championships at the same time.

2023 WWE CROWN JEWEL PREVIEW

crownjewel

As I do every month, it’s time to look at WWE Crown Jewel and see the history of all of the participants. This year will be the 5th Crown Jewel event after 2018, 2019, 2021, & 2022. There was no Crown Jewel event in 2020, but if a wrestler wrestled in the 2019, 2021, & 2022 event, I will say that they wrestled in their 3rd Crown Jewel event in a row.

To see the entire history of Crown Jewel, visit the Crown Jewel History HERE. And for any feedback or comments about this, comment below or tweet me (@hbkid718). Thanks.

This will be the 1st PPV since SummerSlam on August 5 to not have a Tag Team Championship Match & the 1st Crown Jewel since 2021 to not have one. This will be the 3rd PPV in a row to not have an Intercontinental Championship Match & will be the 5th Crown Jewel in a row to not have an Intercontinental Championship Match, meaning that the Intercontinental Championship has never been defended at Crown Jewel. This will be the 4th PPV in a row to not have a Women’s Tag Team Championship Match in 2023 & 1st Crown Jewel since 2021 to not have one.

This will be the 1st Crown Jewel where Bobby Lashley, Brock Lesnar, or AJ Styles didn’t wrestle, therefore no one has wrestled on all 5 Crown Jewel events. Seth Rollins is the only wrestler to wrestle on every PPV in 2023. This will be the 1st PPV since SummerSlam on August 5 to not have a Tag Team Match & the 1st Crown Jewel in History to not have one.

Since no Opening Match has been announced, here are the facts about it. The only wrestlers on the card that have wrestled in a Crown Jewel Opening Match are Rey Mysterio (2018) & Seth Rollins (2021), so if they wrestle in the Opening Match, they will tie Brock Lesnar with 2 Crown Jewel Openers. The WWE Championship is the only Championship to be defended in an Opening Match as it was defended in 2019. A Hell In A Cell opened in 2021 & a regular Singles Match opened in 2018 & 2022.

If Damian Priest cashes in his Money In The Bank Briefcase, here are the Facts. LA Knight, Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest, Seth Rollins will join Humberto Carrillo (2019), The Miz (2018), Rey Mysterio (2018), Seth Rollins (2018), & Dolph Ziggler (2018) as the only wrestlers to compete twice at Crown Jewel.

It would be the 1st time that the World Heavyweight Championship or Undisputed WWE Universal Championship was defended twice in History & at a Crown Jewel. Damian Priest would be the 1st person to cash-in at Crown Jewel & the 4th cash-in in the month of November after The Miz (11/27/10 RAW), Sheamus (11/22/15 Survivor Series), & Austin Theory (11/7/22 Raw). As of Crown Jewel, Damian Priest has held the Money In The Bank Briefcase for 126 Days, which is the 9th Longest Cash-In in History. If he cashes in on the World Heavyweight Championship, he will be the 2nd (or 3rd) 1st-time World Heavyweight Champion in a row, the 2nd (or 3rd) in a row to be a former United States Champion, the 1st to be a former NXT North American Champion, & 2nd (or 3rd) in a row to be a former Raw & Smackdown Tag Team Champion, but 1st to hold both Championships at the same time, no matter if he cashes in against Seth Rollins or Drew McIntyre. If he cashes in on the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, he will be the 1st 1st-time Universal Champion since Braun Strowman in 2020, the 1st 1st-time WWE Champion since Big E in 2021, the 26th to be a former Raw Tag Team & WWE Champion & 2nd in a row after Roman Reigns, & the 5th after Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman, & Bray Wyatt to be Raw Tag Team & Universal Champion & the 4th in a row, the 9th to be Smackdown Tag Team & WWE Champion after Daniel Bryan, Big E, Jeff Hardy, Kofi Kingston, The Miz, Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, & Dolph Ziggler, & the 3rd to be Smackdown Tag Team & Universal Champion after Kevin Owens & Bray Wyatt. If LA Knight wins & then Priest cashes in, he will be the 1st since Roman Reigns for all of the above.

UNDISPUTED WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: LA KNIGHT VS UNDISPUTED WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPION ROMAN REIGNS

LA Knight VS Roman Reigns will be the 5th Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match of 2023 & the 1st since SummerSlam on August 5, marking 92 Days between Defenses. It will be the 8th or 9th WWE or Universal Championship Match at Crown Jewel & 5th in a row & the 1st time since 2021 that there will be 2 World Heavyweight & Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Matches at Crown Jewel. This will be LA Knight’s 1st Crown Jewel, making him the 2nd year in a row after Logan Paul to make his Crown Jewel debut challenging for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. It will be his 5th PPV in a row in 2023. If he wins, he will be the 1st 1st-time WWE Champion since Big E & the 1st person to win the WWE Championship as his 1st Championship on the main roster since Jinder Mahal & the 1st 1st-time Universal Champion since Braun Strowman & the 1st person in History to win the Universal Championship as his 1st Championship on the main roster. He will also be the 1st in history to be a former Million Dollar Champion. This will be Roman Reigns’ 4th Crown Jewel in a row & 3rd Championship Match in a row at Crown Jewel, making him the 1st wrestler to wrestle in 3 Championship Matches at back-to-back Crown Jewel events. It will be his 1st PPV & match overall since he defeated Jey Uso at SummerSlam on August 5 & his 7th match of 2023, making it the least number of matches he wrestled on TV & PPV since he wrestled only 1 match in 2012 (12/16/12 TLC) which was his 1st PPV & 1st match on the main roster. This was Roman Reigns’ 9th WWE Championship Defense, so if he loses, he will be the 1st since Bobby Lashley who lost to Big E on Raw on September 13, 2021 to lose in his 9th Defense. As of Crown Jewel, Roman Reigns’ WWE Championship Reign has lasted 580 Days, so if he loses, he will be the 1st to lose in 580 Days, which is the 6th Longest of All-Time. This was Roman Reigns’ 30th Universal Championship Defense, which is the most Defenses in History. As of Crown Jewel, Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship Reign has lasted 1161 Days, which is the longest Reign of All-Time. This will be the 4th Universal Championship Match to main event Crown Jewel in a row, Knight’s 1st ever PPV main event & Reigns’ 3rd Crown Jewel main event in a row, making him the 1st wrestler to wrestle in 3 Crown Jewel main events in a row, & was his 7th PPV main event of 2022, which is the most PPV main events in 2023, & 1st since SummerSlam on August 5. The WWE Championship has never changed hands in 2023, with the last title change taking place at WrestleMania 38 on April 3, 2022, when Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar. It has changed hands 145 times in WWE History. The Universal Championship has never changed hands in 2023, with the last title change taking place at Payback on August 30, 2020, when Roman Reigns defeated Braun Strowman & Bray Wyatt in a Triple Threat Match. It has changed hands 14 times in WWE History. WWE or Universal Championships have changed hands twice at Crown Jewel in 2018 when Brock Lesnar defeated Braun Strowman to win the Vacant WWE Championship & in 2019 when Bray Wyatt defeated Seth Rollins to win the Universal Championship.
