As I do every month, it’s time to look at this weekend’s Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View and see the history of all of the participants, as well as stats for 2024. If anyone wrestles multiple times, it would be at least the 57^th time that someone wrestled multiple times at the Royal Rumble & the 1^st time since 2022, as no one wrestled multiple times in 2023. This will be the 5^th Royal Rumble event to take place on a Saturday after 1991, 1994, 2022, & 2023, & 1^st time 3 years in a row. Not counting Dark & Pre-Show Matches, this will be the 1^st Royal Rumble since the 1^st one in 1988 to have only 4 matches.

This will be the 1^st PPV since Crown Jewel on November 5, 2022 that Seth Rollins will not wrestle on. This will be the 1^st PPV of 2024 to not have a World Heavyweight Championship Match & 1^st Royal Rumble to not have one. This will be the 1^st PPV of 2024 to not have a Women’s Championship Match & the 3^rd Royal Rumble in a row to not have one. This will be the 1^st PPV of 2024 to not have Women’s World Championship Match & the 1^st Royal Rumble since 2021 to not have one. This will be the 1^st PPV of 2024 to not have an Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Match & the 5^th Royal Rumble in a row to not have one. This will be the 1^st PPV of 2024 to not have an Intercontinental Championship Match & the 8^th Royal Rumble in a row to not have one. This will be the 1^st PPV of 2024 to not have a Women’s Tag Team Championship Match & the 3^rd Royal Rumble in a row to not have one.

Since no Kickoff Match has been announced, here are the Facts about it. The following wrestlers have competed in a Kickoff Match at the Royal Rumble: Shayna Baszler & Charlotte Flair (2021), Humberto (2020), Chad Gable (2019 & 2020), Sheamus (2017 & 2020), Akira Tozawa (2019), Shinsuke Nakamura (2019), Becky Lynch (2017), Kofi Kingston (2015), The Miz (2013), R-Truth (2011), & Natalya (2010 & 2017). The Championships that were defended on the Kickoff Show were the United States Championship (2013, 2018, 2019, & 2020), the Tag Team Championship (2014 & 2017), & the Women’s Tag Team Championship (2021). If they don’t have one, it will be the 3^rd year in a row that there won’t be a Kickoff Match & the 1^st PPV of 2024 to not have one.

Normally in this spot, I post about Opening & Main Event Matches, but when it comes to the Royal Rumble, it’s no big deal if you main event it as the Royal Rumble Match has main evented the Royal Rumble PPV 29 out of 36 times, so too many wrestlers have main evented the show. In 2023, the Men’s Royal Rumble Match opened up the Royal Rumble PPV, so 30 men opened the show. There are too many other facts to talk about that are more important the opening & main events. But I will post about them in my Weekly Column after the Rumble airs.
